To become who she is today, she first had to be every single version of who she was yesterday. I used to think my nonlinear, multifaceted, seemingly-random story was my biggest disadvantage. I’ve never been promoted at any of my jobs, I’ve been fired, laid off, burnt out. And I used to blame my ADHD for it. But looking back now, every single twist and turn was meant to happen exactly when it did, and each one led to growth that would not have happened if I stayed put. The act of becoming is the silent, everyday protest of complacency.
