In order to be successful, you have to do five things. There’s a sequence to it. 1. Have (audacious) goals. 2. Identify and don’t tolerate problems. 3. Diagnose the problems to get at their root causes. 4. Design a path to fix those things. 5. Push through to results. This is what I call looping. Go for your goals, identify your problems, get to the root cause, design a path, and push through. Life is basically just doing that over and over again. My reaction from just watching the solar eclipse is that it was a spiritual moment because it brought people with all different backgrounds and values together with nature and each other in a shared valued moment. The World Cup was like this except it didn’t have the nature part. I hope for more of these shared moments because spirituality, if understood and felt, would bring about the best path forward. To me, the greatest battle is between spirituality—feeling a part of and taking care of the shared common good of all humanity and nature—and fighting for and inflicting harm for oneself and those on your side. More than anything, whether spirituality wins this battle over selfishness will determine the well-being and perhaps the sustainability of mankind.

Own your life and take responsibility to make it great. When life doesn’t give you what you want, don’t be angry—learn how reality works and develop principles to get you where you want to be. Be radically open-minded, and recognize that if you want to be really successful, you have to work really hard.

It seems to me that most people are hooked on news items that last about a day or two and are then forgotten about, as other news items replace them, while failing to see how things are evolving and why. That’s not good for anyone. There are big cycles unfolding almost exactly how they have repeatedly unfolded in the past, and they are being missed.
